Depends on the sport, duration and intensity. Before early am swims or runs- just a banana. Before a short (< 1 hr) high intensity bike- banana. But, before a long bike my favorite is peanut butter on whole wheat english muffin, topped with sliced banana and drizzled with honey. For pm workouts, I can eat just about anything before a swim or bike but, need to be careful with running-something really light and low fiber for sure.
